Three Surefire Signs of Battery Problems

It’s really important as a car owner to be able to recognize the earlier signs of battery issues. The sooner you recognize trouble with your car’s battery, the sooner you can resolve those issues. Sammy’s Auto has this advice for you about how you can spot battery problems.

It’s Tough to Start the Car

Hard starting might not seem to be a battery problem, but it is. Your car relies on the battery to give it the power that it needs in order to turn over the engine and get the alternator running. The alternator then returns the favor and sends power back to the battery to help it to stay charged. If that process isn’t going off easily, it’s usually because the battery doesn’t have a full charge. It might be a good idea to periodically have your car’s battery tested, especially if you are experiencing more difficulty getting the car started.

You Can’t Start the Car at All

If you’ve been having trouble starting the car for a while, you might suddenly run into the dreaded next step. The car not starting at all. You might find that a jump start works to get the car started and think that there’s nothing wrong afterward. That’s especially true if the car does start right up the next time you need it to. But don’t get fooled. Any time you run into issues with starting the car at all and need to jump start it, you’ve got a serious issue that needs to be inspected thoroughly.

Lights Are Dim and Accessories Don’t Work

Another sign of trouble that’s easy to overlook and to blame on other possible issues is when lights are dimmer than they should be or when accessories don’t seem to work at all. Both of these problems are related to the fact that these items need power in order to function. If the car is struggling for power as it is, then it definitely doesn’t have power to spare for additional accessories. Other power drains, like lights, also suffer, even if they are more essential than a GPS device.
